Cathy Woo has been painting and teaching art professionally for over 25 years. Her award-winning work has been exhibited in galleries and juried shows nationally. She is also an experienced show juror and workshop presenter. During her extensive career, she has worked in a wide variety of painting media including acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and collage.
Cathy is also the author of a number of magazine articles about the creative process in painting. Her work was featured in the article, "Between Chaos & Serenity" in The Artist's Magazine (June 2010). Also, she juried the Abstract/Experimental Division for that magazine's 27th Annual Art Competition (December 2010). Her series of mixed media paintings on Plexiglas were featured in the September 2006 issue of the Artist's Magazine.
She is a Signature member of the National and the Northwest Watercolor Societies. She is also a Past President of NWWS and Women Painters of Washington. In 2000 her painting won the NWS Silver Star Award, the top award in the National Watercolor Society's annual juried show.
She graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in psychology, minoring in zoology. She also has a JD degree from Seattle University School of Law. She believes that her studies and interest in a variety of areas have deepened her appreciation for and understanding of the creative process in general and painting in particular.
